Tutorial: Twiggy-Inspired Cat Eye

Ahhhh…. it feels so good to finally be settled here at my sister’s house in Japan! I have my room set up with all of my new Ikea furniture (thank goodness they have Ikea here!).

Oh, wait- I don’t think I ever mentioned the whole I-moved-to-Japan thing yet! Sorry! OK, so my sister, her husband, and their two kiddies live in Tokyo. Summer of 2012 I came to visit and fell in love with Japan, so I decided to spend a year studying Japanese once I graduated high school. I just finished high school in October(!) so now I’m here… in Tokyo. Alright- you should be caught up now.

So the other day I came down stairs after trying out this makeup look and asked my brother-in-law what he thought. “It’s inspired by Twiggy!” I told him. All I got was a blank stare…. so I guess he either hated my makeup, never heard of Twiggy, or both. Whatevs. Note to self: don’t ask brother-in-law about makeup. Duh.

Anyway, I liked how it turned out, and so did my sis. So, I’ll share it with you today!

It’s super easy to do, especially if you have felt-tipped liquid eyeliner. It makes making clean lines soooo much easier than if you were to do it with regular liquid eyeliner… which I wouldn’t even attempt. I’m just not that skilled.

To do it, all you need is black felt-tipped liquid eyeliner (I like the one by Sonia Kashuk from Target!), white eyeliner, and black mascara.

First, line the inner corners of your eye and your lower lash line with white eyeliner. This will make your eyes look bigger.

Next line the upper lid with the black liquid liner, getting as close to the lash line as possible. When you get to the outer corners, extend it past your lashes to create a wing. Carefully make a line starting from the outer corner of the bottom lash line and go up to meet the end of the wing. Fill it in to create the cat eye.

Now, make small dots with the liquid liner all along the lower lash line.

Finally, swipe on some black mascara on both the upper and lower lashes.

There, see? Easy! I hope you like it as much as I do :)

xoxo Mackenzie
